Frittata bites, healthy snacks for babies & toddlers

Looking for the perfect healthy snack for your baby & toddler then look no further?! Frittatas are one of the simplest & quickest recipes you can make for your children, so no matter whether you are great cook or not these are always a winner! They are a great way to introduce eggs into your little ones diet & with lots of combinations of vegetables you can try, this makes it a very healthy & nutritious meal or snack!

Eggs are full of protein & well balanced fats so are great for babies & toddlers! There are also lots of ways you can hide vegetables in frittatas, if your little one is a fussy eater! You can do so by grating vegetables or cutting them up very finely.

Please ensure your baby does not have an egg allergy before trying this recipe. Eggs can be introduced from 6 months old & it is best to give them to children scrabbled or hard boiled & cut into slices to begin with.

Ingredients to make 6

  • 2 eggs
  • Splash of your babies usual milk
  • Red onion (finely chopped)
  • Tomatoes (finely chopped)
  • Grated cheese approx 1tbsp
  • Grated carrot

To ensure that the frittatas hold well be careful not to add too many ingredients.

Method

  • Preheat oven to 200 degrees (180 degrees on fan assisted ovens)
  • Crack the eggs into a bowl & whisk with a fork
  • Prepare all the other ingredients & add to the bowl with the eggs mixing together
  • Using a non stick muffin or cupcake tin grease this using a little butter or olive oil
  • Add the mixture to the tins ensuring the ingredients is evenly distributed
  • Cook for 10 mins in the oven
  • Once cooked, serve as a snack or with smashed avocado, toast, potatoes, greens or a salad & enjoy!

  • Cold cooked salmon

  • Sliced or torn spinach
